Taken directly from Forevergeek.com here's a "power-user" tip for broadband users to make Firefox download pages faster:

Here's something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up:

1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

2. Alter the entries as follows:

Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!

Santa Claus

Excitement is growing. The day is almost here. I know it is not the 25th yet but I will not be able to post on the day. So, now I want to wish everyone a happy holiday. Hope Santa visits and is kind to you. I'm hoping, that if it is a lump of coal I get, it will at least be a BIG one!

If you are as enamoured with Firefox as I am, then you might be interested in a great article at Windowssecret. The Secrets of Firefox are revealed for all to see. Details on config options and plugins and generally just good info. For the adventurous some tweaks are revealed too.

Just a quick note today, so everyone knows that I'm still alive.  If you like clocks and counters check out this great list.  Paul Nagai has gone to great lengths to create a large list of clocks, counters, and countdown timers.  If you need, or just want anything to do with time, check it out. there now!

Found on j-walkblog a link to a great PDF. It's a bunch of cards that you can print and hand out to people
who are annoying you on their cell phone. Click on the Coudal Partners link SHHH! for a PDF file you can print. Have a little Friday fun but be careful. I think a lot of inconsiderate phone users can be pretty nasty.

Don't show this to the kids. Apparently the FBI is dong its best to ruin Christmas by issuing this warning! Hopefully, Santa's magic powers are greater then the FBI's and since there seems to be no reward, chances are good no one will snitch.

Wow! It's December already. I don't know how the time gets to fly by so fast. I usually only put programs, links to computer things, and a few funny things here in the bog. This blog has been used as my personal bookmark for a long time. Fortunately, some other people have found it interesting from time to time too.

My time at the moment doesn't seem to be available to search about and find things to blog about. I have been very busy recently and anticipate that it will be that way for a while to come. So for the near future I won't be doing any regular entries here. When I find something I want to keep as a reference, I will jot it down but with no regularity.

So many blogs that I used to read have gone out. I know how they feel when they get blogged out. I don't want to go the same way, so I thought just slowing down and not worrying will be best. I recommend you add me in to BlogLines, so that if, and when I do enter something you will see it. It is the best way to keep up to date.
