I received a nice note from Ned Wolf after commenting on his fantastic Freeware site last Tuesday. I haven't checked this out but in his note he commented that he had come across Partition Manager. He thought it was more robust then the Partition Logic program that I mentioned yesterday. I haven't checked it out yet, but I've seen the quality freeware listed on Ned's site and I felt obliged to pass his comment along.

If you are looking for a free disk partitioner check out Partition Logic.
Partition Logic is free software, based on the Visopsys operating system. It boots from a CD or floppy disk and runs as a standalone system, independent of your regular operating system. It is intended to become a free alternative to such commercial programs as Partition Magic, Drive Image, and Norton Ghost.

Weekly MP3 post from weblog.schrysler.com
The second share of one of my MP3s. Each week I'm going to try this. I'll set up a new one, once a week and give you seven days to check it out. After that it will be gone and replaced by a new selection. I'm not sure what day of the week to pick. I'm staying with a Monday but that may change. Please don't link to this. Just click on the link and save it. My new one for this week:

Nicklebacks How You Remind Me

I wanted to continue with another great Canadian band. Newer then last weeks but still a real favorite of mine. This one is the live performance of a new classic. A strange love song but compelling in its telling. I really like Nickleback and hope you will too.

Imagine a bunch of locked-out auto workers standing outside the factory gates and saying, "All right, let's build our own cars."

As background, in Canada the CBC, a major broadcaster of TV and radio, has locked out its employees over a labour dispute. I'm sure this is of interest to Canadian only, but Across Canada, locked-out CBC employees are working together to put out their own radio programs, under the collective name of
CBC Unplugged.
If you are missing your daily dose of CBC check it out. You can get news, views and music podcasts.

FYI: Another site with a great list of Freeware, complete with descriptions and links to the software, is here at NedWolf.com. I love this quote from his site:
"We have now reached a point where the average Joe never has to buy a single extra piece of software outside of his operating system (and not even that if you don't want to)." Music to my ears!!

I thought I'd try a new thing and share one of my MP3s each week. I'll set up a new one, once a week and give you seven days to check it out. After that it will be gone and replaced by a new selection. I'm not sure what day of the week to pick. I'm going to start on a Monday but that may change. Please don't link to this. Just click on the link and save it. To start off with this I picked:
Eat My Brain by Odds
The 1995 album "Good Weird Feeling" was my introduction to this group. They only produced a few ablums together but they remain my favorites to this day. I don't know why but this song always made my mind go crazy with wild images and weird thoughts. Just like the album title suggests.

From a posting by Pete Bevin: Like you, I love Firefox for many reasons, including popup blocking. So over the last few weeks I’ve been surprised to see occasional popups.

It turns out that some clever people figured out that you could launch popups from Flash, getting around the Firefox default settings.

Fortunately, you can get around it:

  • Type about:config into the Firefox location bar.

  • Right-click on the page and select New and then Integer.

  • Name it privacy.popups.disable_from_plugins

  • Set the value to 2.

  • The possible values are:
  • 0: Allow all popups from plugins.

  • 1: Allow popups, but limit them to dom.popup_maximum.

  • 2: Block popups from plugins.

  • 3: Block popups from plugins, even on whitelisted sites.
