For anyone who has had the feeling that the consumer society has taken over and would like to fight back, check out this video. It is a commercial from the GAP about their forthcoming new look, but it does give a tweak to that primeval human desire to sack the enemy. After that check out Kill Bill’s Browser. Enjoy. Skip at 7:37 AM
Skip at 6:47 AM Just a quick note on a good resource is 195 Free Online Programming Books. In spite of the name, the list is touted now as having 345 books listed. Every language and a variety of skill levels are accounted for. Skip at 7:32 AM
Skip at 7:21 AM Something to spend the weekend with from Athey Educational UK. Try to make more boxes then your computer opponet by connecting the DOTS. Good luck. Skip at 7:37 AM At least Canadians can still be ingenious. Over at One Red Paper Clip an inventive Montrealer has already traded a red paper clip up to a one year lease in Phoenix, on his way to a house. This has started to take a life of its own on the net and made it to lots of blogs, the Toronto Star, and even CNET News. If that kid in England can make a million selling pixels, I think this guy will succeed too! Skip at 7:27 AM Dead 60s "Riot Radio" Another British group, from Liverpool. They had some modest success with this track from their 2005 self-titled debut album. You might even have heard it here in North America. Skip at 7:31 AM ![]() Skip at 7:54 AM Under the real category of FUTURE Friday Fun, is this report from ABC NEWS. It details that by the end of the month Disney (which owns ABC) will have FREE download of some popular programs, the morning after they air on ABC. Shows such as "Desperate Housewives" and "Lost" will be available on the Web the morning after they air. Now I don't watch either of those shows, but I do like to concept. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds. And check out the latest rage, Webaroo a free software program and service that lets you search and browse real web pages without a connection. (Posted on Thursday as a pre-GOOD FRIDAY treat). Skip at 7:50 AM A new service (still in beta) called KeepVID allows you to download video from almost any of the current video sites. If you see something at Google, Youtube, Ifilm, etc., a quick trip to KeepVID will get you a copy. Now that hard drives are getting bigger, are they BIG enough? With services like this popping up I don’t think so. Skip at 7:19 AM Donald Fagen just released a new album called "Morph the Cat". It has been a long wait from his last release, of Kamakiriad in 1997, to 2006. I know a lot of people may not remember the name, but Donald Fagen is half of "Steely Dan". His solo albums, minus Becker, make it seem like "Steely Dan" has never left the room. The new album was worth the wait. It will make any "Steely Dan" fan feel at home. Until you can get to hear it, I'm posting this song for you to enjoy. It is the title song from his 1977 solo album called "Nightfly". Skip at 7:57 AM ![]() Never again will you have to choose between having sushi or having a USB memory drive--thanks to the USB sushi drive. These USB drives are hand-made-in-Tokyo sushi replicas. The convincing USB sushi drive comes in several flavors. Overnight shipping with dry ice pack available. Comes in 32mb or 128mb size. If you really are interested, or hungry, click here. Skip at 6:28 AM As a matter of interest this was in several papers yesterday including Canada.com’s Ottawa Citizen. Corel Corp, the Canadian desktop applications company taken private in 2003, has filed its papers to return to the public stock market, having recently returned to profitability. As part of the IPO, the company will use shares to buy WinZip Computing, the maker of the popular Windows file compression software, which is owned by the same boutique private equity company. Skip at 6:48 AM Over at the Linuxforums you can find a review of the 10 major Linux distributions giving the pros and cons of each and every one of them. An interesting read. Skip at 7:12 AM Another song you might recognize from TV viewing. This one was used by Wal-Mart for a little while last year. Thought you might like to hear the whole thing. Found on the album "On The Right Track: Beat, Ballad and Blues 1964-1971". I don't know what year it was from but you now know the possible range. Skip at 7:10 AM |
