Weekly MP3 share Another share of one of my MP3s. I set up a new one once a week and give you seven days to check it out. After that it will be gone and replaced by a new selection. Please don't link to this. Just click on the link and save it. For this week:

Joan Armatrading
"Love and Affection"

I’ve been a fan of Joan from the first time I heard one of her songs. The voice, the range, the songs, are always so nice to listen to. This one is at a higher bit rate then I normally post but to get the most I thought it best to go premium. It is taken from her album called "Collection" released in 2000.

FYI - PortForward.com offers free help setting up port forwarding on your router or firewall. Many Internet users are not aware of how to configure their router or firewall in order to use applications like Peer-to-Peer file sharing (PtoP), Internet Games, Web serving, FTP serving, WebCams, IRC DDC, and Instant Messaging such as AIM, ICQ, Yahoo and MS Messenger. Here is a resource that might help.

Joel Plaskett
"Natural Disaster"

It’s another east coast Canadian this week. Joel Plaskett has made several interesting albums and this selection is from his 2005 "La De Da" album. You may have heard him at the Junos or on CBC radio. He seems to be making the rounds with a new tour. If you’ve seen a TV commercial for Zellers recently and thought to yourself, “that sounds like Joel Plaskett", you’re not suffering from auditory hallucinations. It’s true. The first single from the "Make A Little Noise DVD" – "Nowhere With You" – is featured.

You couldn’t have know but I have been away this week with only limited access to computers. I keep and update this blog using Blogger.com and duplicate the entries at Journalspace with my blog there.
While I was away Journalspace had a big failure, I think it was with their database servers, and lots of people lost some of their blogs. I was lucky and only lost one entry, which was easily recovered. However, this only heightened my paranoia about backup. I have now updated my archives and feel a bit better. I just don't feel up to any ’Friday Fun’. Hope you understand.

Autostitch™ is the world's first fully automatic 2D image stitcher. Capable of stitching full view panoramas without any user input whatsoever. A breakthrough technology for panoramic photography, from UBC in CANADA! Check out the Panoramic Gallery of pictures, put together by Autostitch. Very impressive. Daniel Powter
"Bad Day"

It’s an interesting song but does it deserve to be the TOP Single for over 6 weeks? It has been on Billboard’s TOP 100 for that long, as reported here by Groovevolt. Daniel Powter has made a household name for himself with this. I like it, but I’m not sure it will become a classic.

Jamendo is the number one source for free, creative commons licensed music. The site is growing rapidly and recently reached the 1000 albums mark. Albums are available in several high quality formats. The site has a great look, and all the stuff a “social” music sharing community needs. Check it out this weekend.

GMail Drive is a Shell Namespace Extension that creates a virtual filesystem around your Google Gmail account, allowing you to use Gmail as a storage medium. You can get GMail Drive here. It's a nice application, letting you take advantage of all that space Google gives you, but it has had to be updated several times as the Gmail logon has been changed.

Edie Brickell
"What I Am"

It’s hard for me to believe that Edie’s album "Shooting Rubberbands At The St" came out in 1989. This song, now long on a best of album, sounds just as new, fresh, and listenable as the first time I heard it. Hope it does to you too.

It looks like I'm not that addicted. How about you? It looks like the link site may be down but I’m going to post this anyway. Maybe it will be back up by the time you read this. I knew I wasn’t a very good blogger but 25 per cent is kind of low. Guess that explains a lot about this site.

Nickelback
"Animals"

Another song from Nickelback’s "All the Right Reasons" album. I’m still upset with the copy protection on this disc but I really like the songs. Hope you like this one too.
