Weekly MP3 shareAnother share of one of my MP3s. I set up a new one once a week and give you seven days to check it out. After that it will be gone and replaced by a new selection. Please don't link to this. Just click on the link and save it. For this week:

Mp3 Share George Benson
"Breeezin"

I was at a weekend getaway at Geneva Park a while ago. There I heard someone playing George Benson's "2000 Live" album. I had listened to this for a time at home and then put it away. When I heard it again I wondered why? I dug it out and decided that "Breezin" had to be the next share of the week. The entire album is great and worth looking for. It really is "BEST OF" George Benson.

Crash Test Dummies "In the Days of the Caveman"

A third share for singer Brad Roberts, and the Crash Test Dummies. This is one of my favorite, memorable songs from this 1993 smash hit album. The Crash Test Dummies have an truly original sound. Their unique instrumentation, plus a bass singer as a lead vocalist makes for a very different Canadian group. It reminds everyone of the primordial act of modern man camping. I love the wording about having left-over parts of the apes, and the eating bugs and trees for food, with no pajamas.

Check out Phone Tricks. When you enter a number to dial and select a voice this program will dial that number and then read the message to them. The caller ID number can be made up. Both numbers must have area code. This site submits a modified form to a page on www.cdyne.com's Phone Notify site.

If you have a networked computer and use USB devices, you know how troublesome it can be. When you mount a USB device for the first time Windows attaches they first available drive letter. Sometimes this means the new device is invisible because a networked device is using the drive letter. You can always change the letter but this can take a lot of mouse clicks and has to be repeated for every new device you introduce.
USBDLM is a Windows service that gives control over Window's drive letter assignment for USB drives. Running as service makes it independent of the logged on user's privileges, so there is no need to be the administrator to change drive letters. It automatically solves coflicts between USB drives and network drives. You can also customize it by use of a .ini file. There is extensive documentation in English and German. This is a great utility, free for personal use.

Mr. Six - Six Flags Vengaboys
"We Like To Party"

Back to commercial songs, I seem to have this hang-up, don't I? What better one to do, in the middle of Summer, then Six Flags use of the Vengaboys song "We Like To Party". This has been used for a long time with various commercials featuring a strange old man figure (commonly called Mr. Six) with a big bus, doing a strange dance, and luring people onboard. I haven't seen the commercial much lately. Probably because Six Flags is having some cash flow problems and talking about closing or selling some parks. There has been many articles on this, such as this one from the Hamilton Spectator, pointing out they might even sell the Darian Lake park. No matter, I still want to move my feet when I hear this song. Enjoy, Party!

Blue Rodeo
"5 Days In May"

Who doesn't enjoy Blue Rodeo? Blue Rodeo is a Canadian country rock band formed in 1984 in Toronto. These veteran Canadian rockers have an impressive total of 10 studio recordings and five Juno awards in 20 years. Blue Rodeo members have collaborated extensively with other notable Canadian artists, including Sarah McLachlan, The Tragically Hip, Burton Cummings, Great Big Sea, Jann Arden, and the Cowboy Junkies. I thought I would share the "5 Days in May" in July, since it was first on the 1994 "5 Days in July" album. Now, of course, it is on the greatest hits too.

This is not a Friday Fun site, but I think a weekend spent here is worth a Friday Look. Build Your MEMORY claims "You already have an excellent memory. You just don't know how to use it!" This site outlines in simple terms, a variety of techniques, that with a bit of practice and just a little time, will allow you to express the full potential of your latent memory capabilities. Worth a look, check out BuildYourMemory.com.

In case you party too much.......From WWW.MobileWhack.com:
lg_alcohol.jpgLG Korea has gone a step further with the party gimmicks by introducing their latest breathalizer phone, the LG LP4100 which has a built-in breathalizer capabilities that records your blood-alcohol level. When blown into by an intoxicated partier, it will gives a warning and displays a nifty little animation of a car swerving on a road and crashing into traffic cones. I guess this type of animation won't really wake them up. The good thing is it also features a Drunk Dial Preventer. It can be programmed to block selected numbers in the address book (bosses, moms, exes, pizzerias) if breath analyzer records a blood-alcohol concentration over 0.08. It's already a hit in Korea, where more than 200,000 of LG's Breathalyzer-type phones have been sold. Not available in Canada yet.

Despite all of its customizable features, Windows XP orders your taskbar items chronologically. This can be very confusing if you have multiple windows open and the taskbar items are disorganized. If you’re working on a proposal on Microsoft Word and you have your web browser windows open for research, you’d want those items to be next to each other on the taskbar for easy access. Taskbar Shuffle helps you do that. All you have to do is download the program, run it, and drag n’ drop your taskbar items according to the order you want. And as always the price is right with this nice little freeware offering!

Barenaked Ladies
"Lovers In A Dangerous Time"

Here is another great MP3 post for you. Back to Scarborough's contirbution to Canada and the worlds music scene, the Barenaked Ladies. I have always liked this Bruce Cockburn song. "Don't the hours grow shorter as the days go by" made my mind whirl and then top it off with "lovers in a dangerous time". What fodder for an over active imagination. When the Barenaked Ladies did their cover version in tribute to Bruce, I was floored. It was, and still is, the best. What do you think? This one is from the Greatest Hits 1991-2001 album.
