Calvin Harris is a Scottish boy (Dumfries) who used Myspace to get noticed. He signed a record deal in 2006 and released his first album called "I Created Disco". The album has been available in the UK and here since last June but I just found a notice that it will be released in the US at the beginning of September. If you haven't heard of Calvin or had the pleasure to listen to any of his songs, here's one for you. It's called "Acceptable In the 80s". Enjoy. Skip at 7:00 AM It's National Waffle Day according to MrBreakfast.com. August 24th is the anniversary of the first U.S. patent for a waffle iron. Cornelius Swarthout of Troy, New York received his patent for a "device to bake waffles" in 1869. His early waffle iron was used in conjunction with coal stoves, consisted of a griddle and a cover and required flipping of the device to cook both sides of the waffle. At present, National Waffle Day is at best a "bizarre" or "unique" holiday" - the fluff stuff of radio DJ commentary. Waffle promotions at some restaurant chains have helped to keep the holiday alive, if only barely. Do your part. Eat a waffle!!
