Skip at 6:00 AM JUST CLOSE SOME TASKS is an utility to let you easily close inactive tasks. It saves taskbar space by offering you to close the stuff you've not used for a while. Tasks are automatically marked for closing when they're not used for a certain time period (expiry time). The program will learn your behaviour and adjust this expiry time. As always, the programs I mention are free. I you like it be sure to donation something to the author. Check it out here! Skip at 6:00 AM
It's been another tough winter and I needed something lively to perk me up. I've gone back to the underappreciated The Fratellis "Costello Music" album from 2007 and then moved on the 2008's "Here We Stand". I decided to pick out a great tune, from the later album, to share this week. It is called "Look Out Sunshine". The Fratellis are a great indie rock band from Glasgow, Scotland. Check out their MySpace page and enjoy this share. Skip at 6:00 AM
HAPPY NEW YEAR! Monday is the start of Chinese New Year. The Year of the Ox Those born in the Year of the Ox are patient, speak little, and inspire confidence in others. If you need honest, steady and unbiased advice, call on the Ox. The downside is they can have fierce tempers and although they speak little, when they do they are quite eloquent. Ox people are generally easy-going, but they can be very stubborn, and hate to fail or be opposed. Oxen don't care to be pushed, especially since they think they're the good guys of the Chinese zodiac. There is some truth to that theory, since the Ox is smart, trustworthy, caring and honourable. What Oxen need most: To overcome that judgmental streak and let others get closer. Most compatible with: Snakes, Roosters, and Rats. Gym Class Heros were at the Air Canada Center last week. In honour of this I'm sharing a song from their latest album "Quilt", follow-up to their "Papercut Chronicles". I really like this group from Upstate New York (Geneva) so here is "Home". Check out info, tour dates, lyrics, etc, HERE! It's their offical myspace.com website. Skip at 6:00 AM A little Friday fun. I've mentioned this several times before but it still is one of the best sites on the internet. Homestarrunner is still giving everyone a great time. Homestar now has his own Wiki! Check out Strongbad's emailsSkip at 6:00 AM The First Computer Bug was Saved. Most people know the story of Grace Hopper and how on September 9, 1945, at 3:45 p.m. she discovered that a moth caught in the wiring of the Mark II computer was causing the machine to behave erratically. Thereafter, every time the computer behaved in an unexpected manner, her group said there must be another bug. However, most people do not know that Grace taped the moth into her log, which can be seen at the Navy Military Historical Center Museum site Here. Just page down to the bottom to see history! Rod Stewart just released another 2 CD hits album in the UK on January 6th. It is called 'Some Guys Have All the Luck" and contains that tune along with many others. I managed to get a copy and can recommend it to you. Here in North America it is called 1971-2004 Definative Edition. From the album here is "You're In My Heart". I know he hasn't done much recently but he can still get to you with a great classic like this. I hope you enjoy it. Skip at 6:00 AM Here's a cute cartoon from last Month's Rhymes With Orange. I'd love to have some paper money to use but I may have to settle for the rolls too! I got a good chuckle when I saw it. How about you?
Skip at 6:00 AM The way TINY WATCHER works is pretty simple: basically, it starts by taking a snapshot of important parts of your Windows system; then it tracks changes (every time you log in, or whenever you want to). When a change is detected, you are notified. For example, you will be notified if a program puts itself in the startup lists of your machine, or if files are modified/created in your Windows directory, etc. Tiny Watcher has been designed to work discreetly. You will barely notice it at logon time: the about box shows for less than 5 seconds, and a progression gauge displays briefly. Both of these windows being optional, Tiny Watcher can run completely silent. Most of the time, you will just forget that it's here. When a suspicious item is detected, however, you will be informed about it. You will be able to decide what to do about it (some items can be disabled or removed right away). It's FREE and I've been using it for a while now and highly recommend it, check out TINY WATCHER, you'll be glad you did! Skip at 6:00 AM I kept a mirror of this blog at Journalspace.com for that last few years. Quite a few people read my blog there and probably never came here. Journalspace is no more. Just before Christmas their hard drive crashed and the owner has given up. If you click the link you will see that Journalspace.com is for sale on EBay! Oh well. It was nice while it lasted. Some people are using Dorrie's Fun Forum to keep in touch and see what other's are doing. I hope people who used Journalspace will still find me. Time will tell. Skip at 6:30 AM ![]() To anyone who happens to read this... Happy NEW YEAR I hope to get back to regular posting next week. See you then! Skip at 1:00 AM |
